DSC00367As planned, though you we kinda packed the car (as you can se in the picture on the left), everything couldn’t fit at once. I wrote it several times already, the project for this residency is to show paintings, sculptures and photographs, making obvious the meanings they all share.

To do so, the résidence des arts de Moncontour reserved 3 spaces for me : the western workshop, the yard and the yard’s workshop.

After unloading the car and getting in touch with the place a little close than trough a screen, I started to hang the paintings in the western workshop, that is the space that is closer to the main entrance and you need to access if you want to reach the yard. I’m not showing yet how it looks know. The first view is for the ones coming to the opening on saturday the 10th at 6.30pm.

DSC00369DSC00373When I got back there with the last pieces, one of first things I did was to set this sculpture in the window frame.

I kept working according to the order in which you go through the different spaces and set sculptures in the yard before mending the larger ones that suffered from being moved around.

I still have 98 pictures to hang in a room that is not exactly set for that yet. Some printing has to be done as a few pieces lost their informations labels and to provide extra information that mught be handy in different places along the exhibition. There’s still a lot to do till saturday, I wonder if I’ll have the time to visit the village that looks so charming.

Have a good week !

From South to North and then to West

I went West yesterday and it’s the main reason for the delay in my weekly post. DSC00254I also had a lot to do before leaving as when I unpacked the photographies series once in Lille, we noticed one picture was missing. So yesterday morning, I went in town, in Paris to pick the missing one.

The first hanging process for « J’en ai un, j’en ai deux, j’en ai eu, j’en aurai, j’en veux plus… » didn’t go smoothly, and the fact the series was incomplete doesn’t explain it all. I’ve needed quite a while to feel the space. I’m lucky I was warmfully welcome and helped out moving furniture around to get the most suitable setting and actually be able to reach top of the walls.

DSC00248Las monday, I also ran around a bit to get the equvalent of the materials I had forgotten in the South. The first workshop was sheduled on tuesday the 22th. It was supposed to last 2 hours but some participants stayed an hour and a half longer. The 20 minutes delay in the beginning, to wait for everyone to be there wasn’t such a big deal considering part of the participants came back for more hours together the day after.

I hope I’ll be able to change the time frame efficiently for the next workshops. Most of those arn’t programmed yet.

I’m really thankfull for support I got from my partner DSC00246and friends in the hanging process considering I’ve had little time to finish it with these on-going workshops !

The openning was kinda crowded at some point, and it was pleasing to see so many people gathered around the exhibition after putting so much effort in the making. The municipal official who supported the project voting for its founding also showed up :

Last tuesday, I also recieved this :

Invitation Ariane Sirota

THat is the invitation for the openning of the exhibition regarding my residency in Brittany. I’ll start bringing the pieces other on the 1st. I’m gonna need at least 2 trips to complete this task, even with my new car. Thursday feels so far for now. I wonder how I’m gonna feel about the place. How the exhibition is gonne evolve through the month. Cause that was the project I presented : working on making visible the links between the different parts of my works : photography, painting, sculpture. An other event will be sheduled at the end of the period.

With all this going on, the night of the lunar eclipse, I was sleeping. Still I give you other sky views :

Have a good week !

More moving

I’m writing this post from Paris. I arrived there last night with a bunch of pieces for my residency in Brittany next month. I thought I also had some tools and materials for the workshop I’m giving tomorrow in Lille, but emptying the new car, I had to admit I had forgotten the specific bag. The car was kinda full though it takes in so much more thant the previous one. I feel like last week was like this : large but packed with actions and emotions related to different projects, places and events to come.

Tha car itself gave me quite an amount of concerns. I’m not done with processing what it means about my relationship with my tools and the property of those.

The first exhibition organised by Créatrices et Créateurs du Caroux au Canal du Midi had a nice audience concidering other events were happening at the very same moments in different places closeby. The administrative launch of our activities didn’t get the same amount of attention as we didn’t get the official registration yet thought more than 5 days haved passed, and that is the delay the official website advertises.

I finally sent a file to participate in a festival around Paris in january 2016. I also sent an application to exhibit in Aude next year. As I wrote last week, I change the framing of Trapèze before sending it to Artoteka.

The first workshop in Lille has already found its share of participants. I hope they started gavering materials as I’m gonna lack of time to do much on that matter concidering I have to find/buy the stuff I forgot at home and go grab the pictures for the exhibition I’m starting to hang tomorrow morning. I’m leaving for Lille tonight.

affiche A4If you’re there en thursday, come have a drink with us at 8pm at the LGBTQIF center, 19 rue de Condé. It’ll be shown again in this neighborhood at Chez Violette during ET BIIM, festival féministe à Lille, what a joy !

I wish you a good week, leaving you with new pictures taken in Helsinki from the Grilles page :
